The initial situation:
Converting the lighting in the deep-freeze warehouse of a market-leading food discounter presented us with new challenges. Energy-intensive HIT ceiling spotlights were installed in the fresh food and deep-freeze storage areas, each consuming around 450 watts. Cooling systems had to cool against the high heat production of the luminaires, which also drove up electricity consumption.

The customer’s wish:
The existing, highly inefficient ceiling lighting was to be completely removed and replaced with new energy-efficient LED lights.

Our solution:
At a room temperature of -25 degrees Celsius, the ceiling lights were gradually converted to our energy-efficient LED technology. Here, strip lights with 4 PIN-Modulen mounted on a newly installed rail support system. A dimming function and radar motion detector were also realised. One particular challenge was the ceiling height of around 12 metres and finding a ladder that would remain operational and not ice up in the extreme temperatures. At the same time, our high-intensity floodlights were installed in incoming and outgoing goods, consisting of 6 PIN-Modulen in a height of approx. 6 metres. As a result, enormous energy savings were achieved with a consumption of just 100 watts. When using the dimming function, the modules only consume an average of 24 watts. Due to the freezing cold, our team was only able to work in the cold store in two-hour cycles, but the project was still completed on time and to the customer’s complete satisfaction. All Pin-Module are manufactured directly by us and are therefore original “Made in Berlin”. This has the great advantage that subsequent deliveries or spare parts in the distant future are not a problem and are available at short notice.
