Made in Berlin by BRAUN Lighting Solutions – einfach besseres Licht.
The initial situation:
The production halls of the Siemens plant in Berlin, where gas turbines are assembled, were equipped with outdated mercury vapour lights. In addition to the immensely high power consumption of up to 1,000 watts per unit, the lights also had different and undesirable light colours. Maintenance of the lighting system was also extremely time-consuming and costly. In addition, individual luminaires failed and unpleasant operating noises also increased significantly. The disruptions to operations caused by the vulnerable hall lighting were no longer acceptable for Siemens. One difficulty was to prevent small parts from falling during installation, as otherwise the turbines underneath could be damaged. Furthermore, the hall was very high with a light point height of approx. 24 metres, making the existing luminaires difficult to reach.
The customer’s request:
The outdated ceiling lights in the hall were to be converted to modern LED technology. The output per unit was to be at least 700 lux according to the customer’s requirements. It was also important that individual areas of the hall could be switched to different light levels and that a dimming function should also be available. Rapid replacement of the luminaires and connection technology during operation was also to be guaranteed.
Unsere Lösung:
As a result, the hall was equipped with ours BigTAB clusters of 4 luminaires were successfully converted to the latest LED lighting technology. In accordance with the customer’s wishes, a wireless solution was realised with which all the luminaires can be controlled, programmed and dimmed. As no new cables had to be laid for this, the conversion time was correspondingly short and the costs were minimised. In the end, instead of the required 700 lux, 1,000 lux was realised with the lowest possible energy consumption and SIEMENS was so satisfied that we were awarded further follow-up orders.
