The initial situation:
Founded in 1959, the Galerie neue Meister is the youngest of the museums in the Dresden State Art Collections. Originally built as an armoury, it was converted into a museum building at the end of the 19th century. The name Albertinum goes back to King Albert of Saxony (reigned 1873 – 1902). Today, the 5,650 square metre picture gallery displays around 3,000 works of painting – from Romanticism to the present day.

The customer’s wish:
As part of the 2009/2010 refurbishment of the building, the candelabras on the world-famous Brühl’s Terrace were to be refurbished and fitted with state-of-the-art LED lighting technology. The Free State of Saxony subsidised the measure.

Our solution:
Since its reopening, the Albertinum in Dresden has shone in new historic LED light. The existing candelabras have been extensively restored in keeping with their listed status, and the luminaire bodies fitted with our energy-efficient His.lux LED-Modulen equipped.

A special technical feature is the LED spotlights integrated into the upper part of the luminaires to illuminate the facades of the Albertinum. This combined solution enables effective illumination of outdoor areas and façade illumination at a reasonable cost.
Our His.lux LED-Module in GasLight optics produce a uniform, warm white light colour reminiscent of the former gas lighting in Dresden. The contours of the building are illuminated in a manner appropriate to the listed building and are very clearly visible thanks to the high colour rendering index.

In addition to aesthetics, the luminaires also score highly in terms of environmental compatibility. Energy consumption and CO2 emissions were reduced by over 50 per cent after the conversion
