The initial situation:

Berlin’s BER airport has an XXL advertising wall at a multi-storey car park, which is still operated with outdated lighting and was very maintenance-intensive. This should be changed in order to significantly reduce power consumption, CO2 emissions and maintenance costs.

The customer’s wish:
The customer was looking for a lighting system that was low-maintenance, very durable and compatible with the existing power supply systems. The light sources should also Dark-Sky-friendly and project as little light as possible into the surroundings. This protects the night sky and avoids the nuisance of insects.

As there are still very few high-quality lighting systems on the market that fulfil these requirements, we were approached to develop a suitable lighting system for large displays.

Our solution:
As a solution to this challenging task, we have developed a special linear LED lighting system consisting of a high-strength aluminium support structure with newly developed LED linear lights. The LED linear lights have newly developed circuit boards with a constant voltage supply and special optics that direct the light in the desired direction. The new lighting is ideal for meeting the desired requirements. One challenge in this project was to integrate the existing steel girder construction as a support system for the new lighting. The project team also had to take the mounting distance to the display and its enormous width and height into account during planning. Our electronics and design departments realised the new lighting system in a short period of just a few months. Our production department then produced the ready-to-install LED linear systems in record time and our professional installation team quickly carried out the installation of the new lighting system at lofty heights. As a result, the customer is satisfied with the illumination of the large display.
