Initial situation

Europa-Park® in Rust (Baden-Württemberg) is one of Germany’s most popular amusement parks, attracting around 5.6 million visitors annually. Covering an area of around 950,000 m², guests can enjoy over a hundred rides, numerous shows, a cinema, and several themed hotels.

The hotel complex includes the 4-star superior adventure hotel “Bell Rock,” whose architecture is inspired by the magnificent buildings of 18th-century America. For the hotel’s prestigious entrance area, the management wanted a new, high-quality lighting solution that would underline the architectural appeal of the building.

Customer requirements

Stylish, atmospheric entrance lighting was to be created at the main entrance of the Bell Rock adventure hotel. The imposing exterior façade with its striking columns was to be effectively highlighted in a way that also evoked a sense of history.

A key criterion was a lighting solution whose appearance was reminiscent of classic gas lamps while also meeting the requirements of modern, energy-efficient lighting technology.

Our solution

We used our particularly energy-efficient historic LED lights of the Alt-Berlin type, which are modeled on the gas-powered original in terms of shape, materiality, and lighting effect.

The lights were equipped with our His.lux® Premium LED module in a gaslight look. This produces a warm white, cozy light that authentically reflects the typical character of historic gas lighting.

The following additional features ensure the perfect historical look:

  • BAMAG remote igniter housing
  • Brass patent chain and pull ring
  • Precisely fitting wall brackets, also from our product range

The luminaires were mounted directly on the façade and effectively highlight the columns and architectural details of the hotel.

Result

With the new lighting, the Bell Rock adventure hotel combines historic lighting aesthetics with state-of-the-art LED technology. Today, the entrance area appears representative, inviting, and stylish—while at the same time offering minimal energy consumption and high durability of the technology used.
